Hey guys, quick question. Received my bike today, extremely happy with it (haven't come across ANY shipping damage except a tiny nick on the gas tank).

I charged the battery with a trickle charge until it read as full, then placed it in the bike. I turned the key to test the lights, but nothing happened. I removed battery and examined the fuse box–a blown fuse. I replaced the fuse and left the seat off to test it. When I turned the key again I watched the fuse blow. What could cause this, a bad ground? How might I identify it?

One of your positive wires is touching ground.  You gotta find this wire.

Your gonna have to do some searching to find it.  Start looking in areas where the wires make sharp turns and places where the wires are attached to the frame.

Well, I got the electronics on the bike working. I am going to go through everything from top to bottom tomorrow and try firing it up.

A quick question:

Does the fuel tank come already connected to the bike, or do I need to connect the hose? There is a mysterious house dangling out from the left side, is that the infamous ventilation hose I've heard about?

The hose:

When I took the side fender off I saw the caps to whatever these wires were connected to were not connected properly. Probably wasn't the problem, but I tried to readjust them.

I also scratched away the paint around the ground screw, dunno which solution it was–but all the electronics turn right on, as of right now.

Yeah, bad ground… I jumped to a conclusion hehe

The fuel should be hooked up, but I'd swap out that OEM "wannabe" fuel line for some good stuff.  Also, I'd shorten it A LOT.  And add a briggs and stratton style stop cock.
